What is prayer? Prayer is communicating with God! Prayer is fellowship with the Father.
Prayer is not an event that happens but rather something that happens continuously according to 1 Thessalonians 5:17 “Pray without ceasing.”
Prayer requires a relationship….. A relationship is defined by the amount of time spent. The more you invest time in the relationship, the more fruitful it becomes and the more you know each other better.
A relationship between 2 people differs from other 2 people’s relationship. Which means that you need to find your own uniqueness when communicating with the Father. You need to be vulnerable with God and be open when communicating with Him. Know that God wants the best for you. It is important to be in the Word of God because it assures you of the love of God.
Be in constant fellowship with your Father and be frank with Him. Be honest because He already knows you. Don’t be religious in your prayer life 🙂 Its okay to cry to your Father and its okay to be broken before God.
Treat God like your friend sometimes, David had an amazing relationship with God because he knew how to be vulnerable with Him. He also understood the love of God which is important.
When approaching God know that He loves you, to show that He loves you he says in Jeremiah 33:3 ‘Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’ Not only does he answer you but He gives you bonuses (This is the love of God, demonstrated)
In order to know how to pray, you need to be rooted in the word of God. David said your word I have hid in my heart so that I may not sin against you (Psalm 119:11). Know the word of God because when you pray, you must pray using the Word. God watches over His word to perform it in our lives (Jeremiah 1:12).
Yes while God watches over His word to perform it in our lives, we must learn to be patient. In the fullness of time that which God has spoken will be fulfilled.
It is also important for us to pray in the Spirit according to Romans 8: 26 In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. 27 And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God.
It is also important to pray for others; Ephesians 6:18 Pray in the Spirit at all times, with every kind of prayer and petition. To this end, stay alert with all perseverance in your prayers for all the saints.
Finally brethren while prayer is communication, but there is also a need to be still before God: Psalm 46:10 He says, “Be still, and know that I am God” Know that God has got your back and He knows what you need. Sometimes you just need to be still, still in the middle of a storm and know that He is God and that He has got you covered.
Rest in the promises of God: Jeremiah 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jesus Loves YOU.
